Ishpingo Tours invites you on a journey that will begin with a ride on the newly restored Andean train from Quito to the beautiful Machachi Valley allowing you to soak in the magnificent scenery as you enter the Avenue of the Volcanoes. During your visit to six of Ecuador’s most popular haciendas, enjoy an adrenaline rush on zip-lines, breathtaking views from horseback while riding across Andean grasslands, overnight at a hacienda built on the site of an ancient Inca fortress, the Route of the Waterfalls, nature hikes and colourful local indigenous markets, not to mention unique Andean cuisine.

Private English speaking guide and driver with modern vehicle, all meals as detailed in the program, accommodation in selected properties, visits, excursions, bottled water and activities. This excursion is a private-basis tour, however it might include certain shared or group visits at some locations. Guides in languages other than English (German, Italian or French) can be provided. Hacienda San Agustín de Callo was built on the site of an Inca fortress, one of the two most important archeological sites in Ecuador and the northern most point from Cuzco of the Inca empire. Dating back to the 15th century, the hacienda offers a unique insight into Ecuador’s colourful past.


Built in 1965, Hacienda Manteles, one of the most beautiful hotel-haciendas in Ecuador, is nestled between the Sangay and Llanganati National Parks atop a peaceful Andean valley where it offers its guests stunning views of the Tungurahua Volcano, active since 1999.


Hacienda Hato Verde Boutique Hotel combines the best of a historic Andean hacienda and working dairy farm with the luxuries offered by one of the finest and exclusive boutique hotels in Ecuador. Located on the southern face of the mighty Cotopaxi Volcano, the highest active volcano in the world, Hato Verde is known for its spectacular scenery, elegant decoration and personalized service.


For horse and nature lovers alike, Hacienda La Alegría, well-known for its warm, traditional hospitality, is sure to meet expectations. Located in the heart of Ecuador’s Avenue of the Volcanoes, the recently restored house offers all the luxuries and comforts of home in a beautiful Andean setting.


Today, this exciting journey begins with a morning full of spectacular scenery while taking a ride on the Andean train. Depart Quito and head south until reaching the valley and village of Machachi. This charming and newly restored train operates from Thursday to Sunday (on other days the trip is made in a private vehicle).

From the train station in Machachi continue on to Santa Rita Hacienda and Ecological Reserve located on the upper part of the Pita River. Once there, those up for a real adventure and adrenaline rush get suited with harnesses and helmets for a thrilling experience on the zip-lines.

Afterwards, travel on to Hacienda El Porvenir for a delicious Andean lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy more amazing views during a light horseback ride across the open meadows near the impressive Rumiñahui Volcano.

In the late afternoon, depart to the south to Hacienda San Agustín de Callo, a unique property built on the remains of an imperial Inca fortress on the western edge of the Cotopaxi National Park. There will be time to adjust to the altitude walking on the grounds or simply relaxing by the fireplace. Dinner will be hosted by the owners. (Lunch & dinner included)


After breakfast, the journey continues to Baños de Agua Santa, locally known as “Baños”, a popular, picturesque town that sits at the base of the active Tungurahua Volcano. Baños, with its village-like atmosphere, offers a variety of outdoor adventure activities to its visitors including climbing, zip-lines and mountain biking. While exploring the town, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Later, take an exciting drive along the Pastaza River Canyon, also called the “Route of the Waterfalls”, one of the most popular destinations in Ecuador. This magical refuge is home to more than 60 spectacular waterfalls, hanging bridges and many ecological trails to explore – a paradise like no other.

After enjoying the breathtaking scenery in the reserve, travel on to Hacienda Manteles, one of the most beautiful hotel-haciendas in the country. Here, enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and relax next to the cozy fireplace before dinner. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)


After another nutritious Andean breakfast, depart on a morning nature hike into the nearby cloud forest bursting with exotic plants and colourful birds. Later, return to the hacienda for lunch and then depart taking an alternative scenic route through the picturesque valley of Latacunga. Upon arrival at Hacienda Hato Verde, soak in the intimate atmosphere and enjoy a family-hosted dinner that will provide the perfect end to a fun-filled day.

Hacienda Hato Verde is located on the plains of the south face of the Cotopaxi Volcano – an area famous for it’s natural beauty and microclimate that has permitted productivity and cultural development for centuries. Artesian markets and festivals are quite popular in the area. (Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)


Today, continue north through the Inter-Andean valleys, a backcountry drive through the foothills of the snowcapped Ilinizas Volcano and across extensive farmlands until reaching the valley of Machachi and Hacienda La Alegría where a grand hacienda lunch will be served.

In the afternoon, can enjoy the hacienda grounds that include a newly inaugurated bullring (a truly unique attraction) before beginning the drive back to Quito. (Breakfast & lunch included)
