Hacienda Cusín, a beautifully restored 17th century Andean estate, dates back to 1602 when it was first purchased at auction from Phillip II, King of Spain. At that time, the property amounted to approximately 100,000 acres. Today, this charming hacienda provides personalized attention and everything required for an Andean adventure in style and comfort.

A highlight of every visit to Cusín is spending time in the extensive gardens that bloom year round. Orchids, agapagtha, foxgloves, bougainvillea and palms attract over 50 species of birds. Take a stroll along charming cobblestone lanes or simply relax in one of Cusín’s tranquil fountain patios.

Beautifully decorated guest rooms, cottages and suites offer garden and mountain views, have wood beamed ceilings, log-burning fireplaces and are filled with tastefully selected antiques and Andean crafts. Just off the main dining room is a cozy salon complete with roaring fireplace and fully-stocked, staffed bar.

The hacienda’s cuisine features the best of both Ecuadorian and international specialties. Breakfast always includes Cusín-made bread along with homemade jam and freshly squeezed juice that showcases some of the most exotic fruits Ecuador has to offer. Three-course lunch and dinner menus change daily and offer the visitor the opportunity to sample magnificent local dishes from the Andean region.

More than 20 activities are offered both on and off site, the most popular being horseback riding and mountain biking. A gentle horseback ride up into the surrounding mountains offers spectacular views of the valleys and Lake San Pablo below while giving the rider unique insight into the lives of the local people, allowing a glimpse into their homes and traditional lifestyle.

Hacienda Cusín is close to several Andean towns including Otavalo and Cotacachi with their unique and colourful indigenous markets where bargains abound. It is also close to Quito’s new international airport making it the ideal place to stay for visitors traveling on to the Amazon or Galapagos Islands.

Hacienda rates include a welcome cocktail, American breakfast, WiFi in certain areas, use of installations and local taxes.
